Trent Hohaia
Project Lead
Trent starts from a place of deep care for people and place, bringing practiced facilitation, keen insight, hope driven foresight, and imaginative yet grounded solution creation. Aimed only at making change that matters for people, Trent works as a facilitator in community, where the meaningful solutions are found.
Trent works at the edge of one of our development and learning areas for ThirdStory: working to curate human centered design skill into indigenous communities in ways that matter, are relevant and led by those communities, as defined by those communities. He works as a part of the ThirdStory team based in Aotearoa, supporting work across all sectors.
A descendent of Ngāti Maniapoto, Te Ati Awa, and Waikato, Trent is a product of the Urban push on Māori communities in the late 20th century and grew up in Tāmaki Makaurau. He received the Māori Excellence award at Waikato University in 2012 and was on the Dean's List for Academic Excellence while completing his BSocSci in 2013.
Trent has worked in non-governmental organisations for the past 10 years while also facilitating and leading indigenous learning journeys across Aotearoa: walking alongside young people, in their communities, experiencing the ebb and flow of systems change close up and with people.
