Naomi joined the team in 2024 with a diverse professional background spanning journalism and classroom teaching. She now applies her capabilities and experience to support projects at ThirdStory.

Based in the Perth office, Naomi works on a range of projects with particular involvement in ThirdStory’s work in primary prevention of Family and Domestic Violence. Naomi supports the delivery of the Social Design Academy which builds capacity for change-making across Australia, and plays a key role in communicating the complex and powerful work of ThirdStory to external audiences.

Her experience in classrooms gives her a strong understanding of how young people can grow through learning opportunities. She is excited by ThirdStory’s human approach to system-level change to ensure more young people flourish through education.

Before joining ThirdStory, Naomi worked as a teacher in Primary Schools and Secondary Schools in Western Australia and in the UK, and as a Creative Practitioner for the Creative Schools program run by FORM in WA. She also designed and delivered professional learning to help teachers cultivate young people’s creative thinking capabilities and continues deepening her knowledge of this powerful aspect of learning.

Her first career was in Journalism. For over a decade she worked as a writer and commissioning editor for major newspapers and magazines in London, UK, as well as contributing to international publications.

Naomi has a BA (Hons) in Social and Political Science from Cambridge University, an MA in English Literature and is working towards her Master of Education, conducting research into how school leaders embed creative thinking in their schools.
